Spellbinding novel for any reader that enjoys romance, talking cats, and curses.
Brambles by Morgan Ray has a spellbinding plot that will keep you interested and intrigued until the end.
Book 1 in the Bramble Series, the story follows Sidney, a young woman trying to find her place in the world while trying to live up to her wealthy grandmother's expectations. As if being a young adult isn't enough, one visit to her grandmothers estate is all it takes to throw her world upside down. She now faces challenges and decisions that people only read about in fairy tales and fantasy novels. Or so she thought.
I will start off by saying LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL COVER! The vibrant colors immediately grabbed my attention. Kudos to the cover artist on this one!
This story has romance, magical worlds, curses, love triangles (actually a love square), and talking cats. What's not to love. It has everything I enjoy in one story. This is the first time reading a novel by this author, but it won't be my last. The story is well written and flows beautifully. Not one chapter bored me. Her writing keeps you intrigued until the very last sentence. And let me just say WOW! The ending will have you ready to grab for the next book in this series.
The story moves quick, with a lot of things happening. There were a few instances where I had to reread parts to better understand what was going on. I wouldn't say that was a bad thing, but I think some explanations could have been shorter. At times, I felt like there was too much information, and it could be summarized better. However, I don't suggest letting this deter you from reading this novel!
I would give this story 5 out of 5 stars. Regardless of the information overload at times, it didn't take away from the plot, and I can see why the author did it. Book 1's of series tend to have more explanations like this from my experience. This is a must read and a perfect story for the spooky season upon us!
